Formed in 2018, Isca Apollo are Exeter’s only LGBTQ+ football team.
The team trains on Wednesday evenings at West Exe School in Exeter, with the purpose to not only play football, but also to create a community. The team is made up of a diverse mix of people and is a welcoming, inclusive environment.
A member of the Gay Football Supporters Network (GFSN), the world’s only national league that is for the LGBTQ+ community. The team take part in many of their tournaments and are hoping to become part of the national league as they grow. Exeter Community Trust, which supports expanding the game to involve many groups within the wider community, has supported Isca Apollo with its overall growth and building awareness.
New players are always welcome as the team look to progress and develop. As with any small organisation, sponsors are key. The team are currently looking for new local sponsors and venues to accommodate their players and supporters, helping them to expand their presence in Exeter and beyond.
The team will be competing in tournaments this weekend (17th June) and next (24th June) as they look to gain more experience as a team.
