In partnership with our friends at Exeter College and Teignmouth Community School, a successful EFL CEFA Season has come to an end, with all three teams competing strongly over the course of the season. It was the first time that Exeter College have entered teams into the Community and Education Football Alliance League and it was a pleasing debut season.
Exeter City A, a team consisting of Students at Teignmouth Community School, finished seventh in South West 3, winning seven of their sixteen fixtures. Wins on the road at Bristol City and Plymouth Argyle (twice) were supported by home wins over Cheltenham Town, Bristol Rovers (twice) and AFC Bournemouth. Matt Newbold top scored for the season with five, he was supported with four goal returns from Ned Carswell and Corey Da Souza. Finley Lawson-Nelder and Cody Cook impressed the opposition the most, with four and three player of the match awards respectively.
Exeter City B, one of two of the teams competing from Exeter College, finished a strong third in South West 2. An eight match winning run from from November through to May put the team in amongst the leaders, but dropped points to second placed Plymouth Argyle and eventual winners AFC Bournemouth thwarted any chance of title success.
Exeter City C finished fourth in South West 3, winning eight of their sixteen fixtures. An inconsistent start to the year was followed by five successive wins. However, three defeats in the last four prevented the team from finishing in the top three.
All three teams will be back in action next year and hoping for improved seasons as the year groups continue their development.
