1931 Fund Donate To Exeter City Women

Exeter City Women have received a boost ahead of the 2023/24 Season as the 1931 Fund have pledged a £3,000 donation to further assist the team’s development.

The 1931 Fund was started in 2009 after City last won promotion to League One. Since then, fans paying £19 each month into the Fund have invested £170,000 in their club to part-fund every player who’s worn the famous Number 31 shirt. The Fund has supported both Meg Robinson and Ellen Dixon in recent seasons.

1931 Fund organiser Alan Crockford said “With none of City’s men’s team signings really fitting our type of 1931 Fund player, we are delighted to be able to increase our investment in the excellent Exeter City Women’s team. 

“We are already sponsoring Ellen Dixon via our sweepstake profits, so we thought we’d make an additional payment to recognise that Ellen is our only Number 31 this season.

“As a result, we are delighted to have paid £3,000 to the ECFC women’s team, which we hope will help Ellen and her colleagues to thrive at our wonderful football club.

“The remainder of this year’s money has been set aside to boost the 1931 Fund budget for next season, and we’re hoping that Gary and his team have spotted the next James Norwood, Josh Coley or Pierce Sweeney to wear The Famous Number 31 in 2023/24.

Exeter City Women just missed out on promotion this season, but will be aiming for another strong campaign in 2023/24 with crowds on the rise and the teams connection with the community ever expanding.
