Hundreds join Granite Way running events

376 runners took to the Granite Way on Dartmoor for Exeter City Community Trust’s annual 10- and 20-mile running events, enjoying a spectacular route through one of Devon’s most scenic landscapes.

The event once again proved a great success, supported by a number of organisations and volunteers who helped ensure the day ran smoothly.

We are grateful to the Okehampton Community & Recreation Association (OCRA), who managed the car park and helped direct runners, as well as the RAF Cadets, who staffed both water stations along the route. We would also like to thank the YHA for allowing the use of their land as part of the event.

Thanks also go to the Granite Way Café for their support with bikes, facilities and helping runners refuel after the race. The wonderful Kingdom of Rhythm Samba Band brought music and energy to the route, helping keep runners motivated along the way. Western Medical Services provided medical support on the day, while Greendale generously donated bananas for all our runners. Finally, a huge thank you to our fantastic volunteer marshals, back markers and lead cyclists who played such an important role in making the event possible.

In the 20-mile race, Lloyd Milbourn claimed the men’s title while Laura Wilby was the first woman across the finish line. In the 10-mile event, the men’s race was won by James Dwyer, with Nikki Kelly taking the women’s title.

We are also grateful to three participants – Joe Miller, Chelsie Stephens and Daniel Deveney – who raised money for Exeter City Community Trust through their runs. Their efforts will help support our work across the region.

Our running events are supported by headline sponsor Tozers LLP, alongside charity and event partners Ilec Group, Eagle One, and Robson Financial.

The next events in the Exeter City Community Trust running calendar are our flagship Exeter Live Better Marathon and Community Five Mile on Sunday, May 5, followed by the evening 10K River Run on Friday, June 26. Both events take place along the River Exe and follow beautiful routes through the Riverside Valley Park.
